Why I started Aleph Accessibility

In our globally-connected digital world, where technology is intertwined with every aspect of life, I found myself increasingly aware of a significant issue - barriers blocking many people from online spaces. The instructions on how to build more accessible websites are out there - buried under dense jargon and complicated guidelines. But as an IAAP-certified web accessibility specialist, I know it doesn’t have to be that way. Fueled by the desire to empower individuals and organizations to build a more accessible online world, I founded Aleph Accessibility.

The core mission behind Aleph Accessibility is to remove digital obstacles through education of and collaboration with web teams. Web accessibility, while crucial, can be overwhelming even to those with some grounding in it. Combined with financial pressures, tight timelines, and stakeholder demands, it is all the more important that web accessibility is an easily-navigable space in order for it to succeed. Our company is guided by the principle of making accessibility exactly that - easy to understand and implement, turning web accessibility into a reality for businesses and organizations alike.

Throughout my professional career, I have excelled at translating complex concepts into clear and easily digestible content. This ability led me to an important realization: web accessibility needs champions to make WCAG practical, friendly, and clear. At Aleph Accessibility, we strive to demystify accessibility, making it easy to understand and implement. We simplify the concepts that are most important for web accessibility, cutting out the noise and complexity. Our training delves into each role within the development lifecycle, providing relevant accessibility knowledge tailored to individual responsibilities.

Understanding that accessibility solutions must align with the way people work, I wanted to avoid overcomplicated and expensive plans that may not be realistic - while holding on to quality, expert advice. Instead, Aleph Accessibility crafts tailored solutions that fit clients' needs and budget, leveraging modern technologies to streamline implementation. We focus on understanding what clients are after and informing our solutions based on real-world Agile development experience. Whether it’s an audit or bespoke consulting, accuracy and excellence is at the heart of what we do.
